Steam
What is a steam room?
A steam room uses a steam generator to give off wet, humid heat (as opposed to a sauna which gives off dry heat). Typically the temperature in a steam room ranges from 43 to 46 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 100 percent.
What are the benefits of steam?
Steam rooms provide an air tight area where heat and humidity assist in the relaxation of muscles, the opening of pores and the release of toxins from your skin, improving the appearance of your skin and giving you a healthy “glow”. The heat and humidity generated also assists in improving blood flow and is therefore effective in easing joint and muscle pain. The steam room can provide relief to painful conditions caused by inflammation such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.
Steam rooms especially assist people with allergies and congestion in the chest or sinuses. Essential oils, such as: eucalyptus, lavender, citrus etc. can be introduced through the fragrance dispensers which can provide further relief to common and seasonal ailments or provide a pleasant aroma in the steam room or shower. Steam treatments are also known to induce and promote a deep and restful sleep.
Apart from their physical health benefits, steam rooms also provide an ideal environment in which to relax after an intense workout at the gym, or a hard day’s work, or simply in which to spend time with family and friends.
